Does Your Wedding Venue Have Sound Restrictions? What to Ask Before Booking a Band

Before you book a band, make sure your venue and your music are compatible. Many venues have rules that affect live music, and it is easier to ask early.

Questions to ask your venue

  • Is there a music end time or noise curfew?
  • Are there decibel limits, indoors or outdoors?
  • Where can the band set up, and how large is the space?
  • What power is available, and where are the outlets?
  • When can vendors load in, and is there a freight elevator or stairs?
  • Does the venue require a certificate of insurance from vendors?

What a good band does

Experienced wedding bands adjust their volume to the room, keep the sound controlled, and ask about the venue before the day. Tell your band about any restrictions when you inquire, using our questions to ask a wedding band as a guide.

Outdoor weddings

Ask about a rain plan and covered space for equipment. Wind, moisture, and heat can all affect gear and performers.
